The Adriatic Is Closer Than You Think

Many travellers believe they need to spend hours driving towards southern Croatia to find beautiful beaches, crystal-clear sea and an authentic Mediterranean atmosphere. Jadranovo proves otherwise.

Located on the northern Croatian coast, in the beautiful Kvarner region, Jadranovo is approximately 50 kilometres from the Slovenian border. It is one of the closest Adriatic destinations for visitors arriving from Slovenia, Italy, Austria, Germany and other parts of Central Europe.

Its location is remarkably convenient: Jadranovo is close to major roads, motorway connections and Rijeka Airport. Yet, once you arrive, it feels wonderfully secluded.

Surrounded by Mediterranean greenery, peaceful coves and remarkably clear water, Jadranovo offers something increasingly difficult to find: excellent accessibility combined with untouched nature, privacy and genuine tranquillity.

The Adriatic is closer than you think

You do not need to cross half of Croatia to enjoy turquoise water, picturesque beaches and relaxing days by the sea.

Jadranovo is located approximately:

• 50 kilometres from the Slovenian border

• 9 kilometres from Crikvenica

• 35 kilometres from Rijeka

• 12–15 kilometres from Rijeka Airport

• 137 kilometres by road from Ljubljana

The village is easily reached from the direction of Ljubljana, Trieste, Rijeka and Zagreb. Its proximity to the A7 motorway and the Adriatic coastal road makes it a particularly convenient destination for guests arriving by car.

Despite being so well connected, Jadranovo does not feel like a busy transit destination or a crowded resort. It remains peaceful, green and intimate, with small beaches, hidden swimming spots and quiet residential streets overlooking the sea.

It is close to everything, yet beautifully away from it all.

Arriving by car

Jadranovo is an excellent choice for guests travelling by car from Central Europe.

Visitors arriving from Slovenia can reach the Adriatic coast without continuing for several more hours towards Dalmatia. Guests coming from Italy can travel via Trieste and Rijeka, while those arriving from Zagreb can use the motorway through the green mountain region of Gorski kotar.

The village can be accessed from the Adriatic coastal road, and Apartments Villa Antonia provides a peaceful base from which guests can explore the wider region at their own pace.

Driving times may vary during the summer season, particularly on weekends, so travelling early in the morning is recommended whenever possible.

Arriving by plane

Rijeka Airport is located on the island of Krk, just across the bridge from the mainland. It is only around 12–15 kilometres from Jadranovo, and the journey usually takes approximately 15 minutes, depending on traffic.

This makes Jadranovo especially attractive for guests who want to reach the sea quickly after landing, without spending several hours on an airport transfer.

Alternative airports include Zagreb, Pula, Ljubljana, Trieste and Venice, all of which can be combined with bus services, car rental or shared rides.

Travelling without a car

A car is useful for exploring national parks, mountain destinations and smaller villages, but it is not the only way to reach Jadranovo.

International and long-distance services operated by FlixBus connect many European cities with Rijeka and Crikvenica. From there, guests can continue towards Jadranovo using regional bus connections.

BlaBlaCar is another practical option, particularly for travellers arriving from Zagreb, Ljubljana, Rijeka or nearby European cities. Availability and prices depend on the travel date and the drivers offering rides.

Because bus timetables and seasonal connections can change, guests should always check the latest schedules before travelling.

Discover the Kvarner islands by catamaran

One of Jadranovo’s newest advantages is its proximity to Kraljevica, where a seasonal high-speed Jadrolinija catamaran connects the mainland with some of the most beautiful destinations in the Kvarner archipelago.

The route connects:

Kraljevica – Crikvenica – Senj – Baška – Lopar – Rab – Lun

During the peak of the 2026 summer season, the catamaran operates daily from 10 July until 30 August. It provides an exciting opportunity to visit the islands of Krk, Rab and Pag without driving through summer traffic or taking a car onto a ferry. Earlier in the season, the service operates on selected days. Current departures and tickets should always be checked directly with Jadrolinija.

Guests can leave Kraljevica in the morning, enjoy the changing scenery of the Croatian coast and arrive in the historic town of Rab for a memorable day trip.

The line is seasonal, so future timetables may differ.

Jadranovo for sailors

Jadranovo is also an attractive destination for guests arriving by sea.

Marina Jadranovo is located in the sheltered Perčin Bay in the southern part of the village. It provides up to 100 berths for vessels measuring up to 18 metres, along with services for visiting sailors.

From Jadranovo, boat owners can explore the coast of the Crikvenica Riviera, the island of Krk and the many bays and islands of the Kvarner Gulf.

A peaceful base for exploring Croatia

Jadranovo is much more than a place for a traditional beach holiday. Its central position makes it an exceptional base for exploring very different landscapes within a relatively small area.

During your stay, you can discover:

In the morning, you can swim in the Adriatic. In the afternoon, you can walk through a cool mountain forest, kayak on the Gacka River, taste local wine in Vrbnik or explore a historic coastal town.

Few destinations offer such variety within such easy reach.

The island of Krk—without taking a ferry

The island of Krk is directly connected to the mainland by the Krk Bridge, which is visible from Jadranovo. This makes it one of the easiest and most enjoyable day trips during your stay.

You can visit the historic town of Krk, explore the narrow stone streets of Vrbnik, spend a day on Baška’s famous beach, discover Biserujka Cave or enjoy lunch by the sea in Njivice, Malinska or Punat.

Because Rijeka Airport is also located on Krk, the island is both Jadranovo’s gateway to Europe and one of its most attractive neighbouring destinations.

From Mediterranean beaches to mountain forests

Another special feature of Jadranovo is its proximity to Gorski kotar, Croatia’s green mountain region.

Risnjak National Park, Fužine, Lokvarsko Lake, Golubinjak Forest Park and other mountain destinations offer a refreshing escape during the hottest summer days. The air is cooler, the forests are dense and green, and the landscape feels completely different from the coast.

The Gacka River is another wonderful option for a day trip. Known for its exceptionally clear water, historic mills and trout, the Gacka area is ideal for kayaking, cycling, walking and enjoying local food.

Plitvice Lakes, Croatia’s most famous national park, can also be visited on a full-day excursion from Jadranovo.
